Make way for Bookspace. Having previously been one of my favorite shopping gems of our city, the unique space has recently been more than making up for the demise of some of our beloved DIY spaces.

5/12 Experimental band Hear Hums stop by Bookspace tonight to join an already impressive lineup. They will be joining local acts Bananas Symphony, Northern Valentine,  and MAST. MAST is the latest project of RYAT’s Tim Conley. I reccomend this show for lovers of all things drone, ambient, and psychedelic.

5/13 There are two great options Friday night directly across from each other, so no excuses, folks. First off, The Armchairs will be playing their last show ever at Johnny Brenda’s. Come out and enjoy their beautifully fun psych-pop for one last time with Dinosaur Feathers, The Circadian Rhythms, and Orbit to Leslie. [Get tickets here.]

Across the way at Bookspace, we have a record release show celebrating The Spinning Leaves & Hezekiah Jones’ Hezekiah Leaves and The Spinning Joneses. Take a listen over at their bandcamp and you will find the record perfectly blends the folk elements we know and love from the two acts with even more psychedelia. Joining in on the fun are The Extraordinaires, Nic Esposito, Joshua Park, and Joshua Marcus. Entry to Bookspace is $12 and gets you a copy of Hezekiah Leaves and The Spinning Joneses.

5/14 Halfway through a national tour with Pomegranates, Laura Stevenson & The Cans, and Into It. Over It., Fake Problems will stop by North Star Bar Saturday for a 3pm matinee. Stop by in the afternoon for some cheap beers, upbeat rock, and shelter from the rain. [Get tickets here.]

5/14 & 5/14 This weekend is the 8th annual Art star Craft Bazaar. Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 6pm stop by Penn’s Landing Great Plaza for this large art show curated by Art Star Gallery & Boutique. Bring plenty of cash for some handmade goodies including prints, ceramics, paintings, and paper goods. Oh, and I forgot to mention the food. Local eateries including A Full Plate Cafe and The Soy Cafe will be serving up their tasty vegan dishes. Each day of the bazaar will feature six local acts. Check out the lineup below.
