Last year Swiss avant-garde metal outfit Zeal & Ardor, led by Manuel Gagneux, found themselves playing North American mega-stages, opening for metal legends Mastodon and Opeth, previewing their self-titled third full-length, which dropped this February on MVKA to resounding praise from the metal community.  Kerrang! said, “For a band whose initial mission statement still feels like a dare, Zeal & Ardor have proven remarkably resilient while staying essentially true to the concept of cross-pollinating African-American spiritual music with black metal,” while Metal Hammer added, “It’s all so propulsive, but it’s ridiculously accessible and nothing’s a footnote.”  This Sunday Gagneux and company will be kicking off a US headlining tour (with support coming from Sylvaine and Imperial Triumphant) at Warsaw in Brooklyn.  And Monday, September 12th, will have them returning to Eraserhood’s metal Mecca, Underground Arts, where they played an epic, 23-song set in September of 2018.  There are still tickets available, so get them while you can, and check out Zeal & Ardor’s barely-SFW video for “Death to the Holy.”
