Welcome Jilian to Philthy Blog!! This girl’s got a mean-ass resume in music. In fact, my jaw dropped a bit when she sent it over, and I kind of can’t believe she wants to blog on Philthy with me, but whatever… I LOVE it!! Jilian’s here to help us explore the music scene in Philly.  She goes to at least 3 shows a week in the city, and she wants you to do the same… Take it away Jilian:

This week in music has gotten off to a strong start with four great shows on Sunday and Monday night. If you didn’t make it out to Danger Danger Gallery or Little Berlin last night, don’t worry; Philadelphia has plenty in store for you throughout the week.

5/5 Wednesday night brings both Yeasayer and Sleigh Bells to the Trocadero. If you don’t have tickets to this sold out show, I suggest you check out Horse Feathers and Lay Low at Kungfu Necktie. The Show starts at 8:00 pm and will run you 10 bones. [Get tickets here.]

5/7 On Friday, everyone’s favorite Baltimore duo, Beach House, will be gracing the stage at First Unitarian Church with synth-rocker, Washed Out. Tickets for this extremely sold out show will cost you as much as $60 on craigslist. However, Johnny Brenda’s is serving up a more financially responsible option with a heavy bill of local favorites. Grandchildren, The Chimeras, and Skeletonbreath will be teaming up with TJ Kong and The Atomic Bomb for their “CD Release Extravaganza.” [Get tickets here.]

5/9 You’ll definitely want to wrap up your week on Sunday with Caribou and Toro Y Moi at First Unitarian Church. A full band will support the man behind Toro Y Moi, Chaz Bundick. Whether or not you caught Toro Y Moi supporting The Ruby Suns this past March, you won’t want to miss out on Sunday night’s performance. Both Caribou and Toro Y Moi are guaranteed to get you dancing despite this humidity. [Get tickets here.]
