Tonight alternative metal legends In This Moment bring their part-circus, part-Broadway, part-festival-ready rock show to The Fillmore.  And supporting the LA-based band will be Nothing More, Cherry Bombs, and, most notably, proggy, artsy, and surprisingly poppy English experimental metal collective Sleep Token.  The literally masked and anonymous band, fronted by an individual simply known as Vessel, have released two LPs and toured with metalcore outfits Issues and Architects, and headlined the second stage of last year’s all-British Download Pilot Festival.  Their performance spectacles would seem to resemble an Eyes Wide Shut masquerade ball brought to Ozzfest and something that needs to be seen to even begin to explain.  They’re currently touring behind This Place Will Become Your Tomb, their second album, which dopped last year on Spinefarm.  While all of the acts performing tonight pride themselves on their elaborate and unconventional live productions, I suspect Sleep Token’s is the only one likely to compete with that of the headliners, so I would highly recommend showing up early (They go on second.)  And, if you need any more convincing to pick up tickets (link below) and show up early, check out a recent live performance of “Alkaline,” off of This Place Will Become Your Tomb.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
