Personally, I’d much rather find myself in a dive bar than a “gallery,” so when I heard Bleached’s local show tonight was relocated from PhilaMOCA to Boot & Saddle, it was quite a pleasant surprise (It’s also like half the size…) Ironically, the SoCal punk rockers, lead by Jessie and Jennifer Clavin, are currently touring behind their third LP, Don’t You Think You’ve Had Enough?, which is an acknowledgement and celebration of their newfound sobriety. The album, which dropped this July on Dead Oceans, sees the sisters creating art in a positive mindset and a clear head for what they consider to be the first time. The album finds the band embracing their most accessible sonic palette yet, from festival-friendly pop punk, to roller skate-ready disco grooves, and neon-clad new wave rock anthems that easily could’ve secured them a spot supporting The Pretenders on the Learning to Crawl tour. And although their music may have mellowed a bit, YouTube clips would reveal their live show to be just as lively as ever, so I would highly recommend coming out to Boot & Saddle tonight (It’s where all the cool grrrls will be…) In the meantime, check out their recently released video for “Daydream.”
