It’s that time of year again, folks – this weekend marks the 49th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival. There really isn’t much going on musically in the city this week, so I’m hoping you are all resting (and saving) up for Friday’s kickoff which features AA Bondy and Bonnie “Prince” Billy. Saturday’s lineup includes afternoon sets from both Horse Feathers and Jeff Tweedy while Sunday’s lineup is just too extensive to even pick a highlight. The Philadelphia Folk Festival will be Jeff Tweedy’s only festival stop this Summer. Adding acts like Tweedy and Bonnie “Prince” Billy is definitely a little out of character for the Philadelphia Folk Festival, but should hopefully draw in some younger audience members as did last year’s performances by Espers and The Decemberists.
