This spring The Met has presented us with an abundance of phenomenal shows, and tonight (5/20) they will be hosting a stellar, nearly-sold-out, three-act bill with opening night of the Long Hair, Long Life Tour, which is entirely comprised of phriends of phriends of PHILTHY MAG.  Co-headlining the evening is Vancouver indie poppers Peach Pit (who we last saw in December of 2022 at The Fillmore with some of our phavorite people, Sunflower Bean, handling opening duties) and Tennessee singer/songwriter Briston Maroney (who last headlined the 215 in January of 2024 with our phriend Phoebe Go providing support).  And tonight’s show will be opened by Chicago indie rockers Bnny, who we saw in 2022 at Johnny Brenda’s alongside Ian Sweet, but who are also super tight with our Chicago buddies Dehd (opening JB’s for the trio in October of 2021) and Friko.

Closing out tonight’s show at the opera house is Peach Pit, who are set to take the stage at 9:30 and play for more than an hour (Briston Maroney goes on at 8 and Bnny opens things up at 7 sharp, so get there early!)  May 9th saw the release of Magpie (Expansion Pack) on Columbia Records, a drastically expanded edition of Peach Pit’s 2024 fourth LP, featuring 8 alternative versions of Magpie tracks (including a rendition of “Did You Love Somebody” with Sir Chloe and a live recording of the title track from Bangkok), a cover of English folk singer/songwriter Labi Siffre’s “Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying,” and even brand new song “Tell Me You Love Me,” so there’s a chance you’ll get to hear a live debut or two tonight…  As I said, the show is nearly sold out, so get your tickets below and check out the official video for “Magpie (Live in Bangkok).”

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple and Drexel. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for PHILTHY MAG. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
