Although Oklahoma-born singer/songwriter Parker Millsap is best known as an Americana musician; blending blues, roots rock, and country; for his latest effort, Other Arrangements, he made the decision to make a pop album. The album, his fourth (which, at the age of 24, seems quite the accomplishment… in addition to the accomplishment of having already opened for the likes of Shovels & Rope, Lake Street Dive, and Old Crow Medicine Show), trades the heavy-hearted subject matter he usually deals with, for something a little more summertime jam-friendly. In the album’s press release he mentions wanting to make great pop songs in the way that The Beatles were able to make great pop songs, balancing craft and substance, in addition to various musical styles, with something that could make the masses go wild. He says he considers the album to play like, “A radio playlist for 45 minutes.” Parker Millsap is currently on the road, touring Other Arrangements, and will be headlining Johnny Brenda’s this Thursday, June 21st. Come check out his latest arrangements in our favorite Fishtown bar and have a listen to the album’s first single, “Fine Line,” below.
