“[The ugly ass new boxes are] apart of a Streets Department project to digitize the traffic signals throughout the city, but thanks to the Department of Homeland Security the new system is three times the size of the old pole-mounted controls, requiring a 67-inch free-standing box. The reason? The boxes were made bigger so they could hold the computer equipment for a future surveillance network.” [Changing Skyline]

This has to be a joke… What is the “surveillance network,” little ppl with fax machines?

I mean srsly, we live in the age of the iPhone, yet we need 6 feet tall “surveillance boxes” on every corner to keep on eye on ppl waiting for the bus? Something doesn’t add up here. I don’t know what yet, but I’m keeping my eye on these boxes…
