“I feel like we’ve been playing shows since we had like one song. And we were playing shows, and we would do cover songs to fill up the time. I feel like the shows came first, and then really diving into the music making process has been a slow growing process over the years,” says Coco – one-half of Coco & Clair Clair – in an interview filmed for “Meet COCO & CLAIR CLAIR,” a Stereogum documentary short that premiered last week. The short film was shot last month at SXSW, where the group – who have already been featured on playlists alongside Doja Cat and PinkPantheress — kicked off their SO SEXY North American tour, that they’re currently about halfway through, and which will have them headlining The Foundry at The Fillmore this coming Saturday, April 8th. The headlining tour is in support of SEXY, their debut LP, which dropped last November and had Pitchfork calling the Atlanta duo, “leagues above everyone around them.” The duo – whose sound is a balance of sassy hip-hop and ultra-edgy pop – have already played Lollapalooza and Osheaga, and this summer they’ll be playing Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle and Mind The Gap Fest in Salt Lake City. This might be your last chance to see Coco & Clair Clair in a room that holds less than 1,000 people, so I would get your tickets below while you still can, and check out their recent music video for “Cherub.”
