Although we’re really not fans of waking up in the AM, it just might be worth it this Friday when our good friends, Pure Bathing Culture, play World Café Live and XPN’s weekly Free at Noon series.  Pure Bathing Culture are a Portland duo, comprised of Sarah Versprille and Daniel Hindman, who began as a band well within the realms of dream pop and Twenty-First Century ethereal wave, but quickly expanded their sonic reach over the course of their first three original studio albums.  This April they released Night Pass on Infinite Companion and the album’s synth-heavy sonic kitsch sounds like it could be the best pre-packaged ‘80s prom playlist since Chairlift’s first record. Although they don’t have any proper nighttime dates in the area, if you don’t mind waking up a little bit early or your boss doesn’t mind you taking a slightly extended lunch break, we highly recommend signing up for a free list spot at their noon show this Friday at World Café Live here.  In the meantime, check out their recently released music video for “All Night” below and read my 2016 chat with Sarah Versprille here.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
