This Friday Cate Le Bon returns to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection for her most intimate show in years.  Successfully headlining Johnny Brenda’s in 2016 and nearly-mega-venue Underground Arts in 2017, Le Bon’s stop this Friday at Boot & Saddle should prove to be quite special (Unfortunately, for those of you not already queued up to go, it is currently sold out.)  The Welsh singer/songwriter is currently touring behind her fifth full-length, and first on Mexican Summer, Reward, which dropped last month.  The album, which was conceived of during a year of living by herself in the Lake District of Cumbria, after learning to make wooden chairs and tables professionally, would seem to be her most eclectic and widely palatable to date.  Building on the sounds of 2016’s Crab Day, Reward continues on the art pop trajectory, but utilizes electronic elements to a greater degree, putting it more in the realm of intellectual pop music than anything else.  Cate Le Bon just kicked off her US tour in Kingston, NY last night and, although the Philly show is sold out, there are still tickets for her DC show at The Black Cat on June 27th.  And, for those of you who got on Boot & Saddle tickets in a timely fashion, we’ll see you there.  In the meantime, check out her recently released video for “Home To You” below and read our 2016 chat about Crab Day here.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
