As I’ve previously mentioned, this Saturday marks Friends Records‘ first out of town showcase. I hope you’ll join us in welcoming this group of Baltimore artists to The Ox. The night certainly has something for everyone, covering everything from experimental jazz to folk pop with sets from Microkingdom, Height With Friends, Sri Aurobindo, and Soft Cat.

Height With Friends are no strangers to The Ox. Height and his revolving cast brought their infectious blend of rap, rock, and soul to The Ox early last Spring and it was 100% the craziest night of my year. There were gold booty shorts, cops, and a whole lot of obnoxious dance moves from yours truly. If you’re looking to party this Saturday, The Ox is the place to be.

The dudes at Friends Records have really thrown together an interesting lineup. Also performing is Soft Cat, the experimental folk project of Neil Sanzgiri. Soft Cat’s simple yet lingering lyrics and intricate arrangements are something completely different than the other three bands’ vibes, but I couldn’t imagine a more suitable way to start off such a diverse evening. I recommend Soft Cat’s upcoming cassette, Wildspace, for fans of Power Animal, eskimeaux, and Secret Mountains.
