2022 has already seen a plethora of icons of ‘90s alternative rock grace the stages of the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, including Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon bringing her solo debut to the TLA, L7 celebrating the 30th anniversary of Bricks Are Heavy at Union Transfer, and Morrissey actually going through with a show in the city for the first time in the better part of a decade…  And we’re not done yet…  This coming Wednesday, December 14th, Union Transfer will be hosting The Lemonheads and Juliana Hatfield [in addition to On Being An Angel], who, in addition to providing soundtrack highlights to much of Gen X’s teen years, actually both appeared on My So-Called Life, arguably the most ‘90s show of all-time…

Like L7’s recent stop in Eraserhood, The Lemonheads’ current jaunt has them celebrating the 30th anniversary of their own seminal release, It’s A Shame About Ray, which actually features Juliana Hatfield (who will be providing direct support) as the band’s bassist.  Upon its release, NME said of the band’s fifth studio album, “…the results fall barely short of the miraculous.”  They also praised mainman and sole constant member Evan Dando, proclaiming, “It’s A Shame About Ray suggests it’s high time we recognise one of the premier American songwriting talents of this, sadly depleted, generation.”  Their set this coming Wednesday will have Dando and company (hopefully along with Hatfield) performing the album in its entirety, in addition to a number of fan-favorites and covers.  Get your tickets below and check out the music video for the LP’s title track, starring Johnny Depp.
