Earlier this week twin sisters Elektra Kilbey-Jansson and Miranda Kilbey-Jansson, better known as Say Lou Lou, released their latest single, “Hard for a Man,” a soulful, R&B-tinged slice of dream pop.  The sisters, the offspring of The Church’s Steve Kilbey and Karin Jansson, have obviously spent their lives within the music industry and it certainly shows in their own output. Their debut album, Lucid Dreaming, was released earlier this year and features a charmingly and playfully intimate brand of ethereal synthpop, with a dash of MTV Jamz-balladry flavoring thrown in for good measure; it shimmers a bit like teenage lust in its most endearingly reserved state.  Say Lou Lou are about to kick off a 13-date, full-band, US tour at our very own Boot & Saddle this Monday, September 7th.  And not only am I guessing it to be one of the best live sets Philly sees this year, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the last chance we get to see them in a 150-capacity room.  And for those coming out, I would highly recommend getting their early for opener Phoebe Ryan, who I suspect will be the next “it girl” in the realm of postmodern chanteuses.
