Every time Saintseneca comes to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, the Columbus, Ohio alt rock/folk rock outfit seems to be on a bigger and cooler bill, from their January 2014 stop upstairs at World Café Live, to a few stops at Johnny Brenda’s (most recently last October), and now an upcoming date this Saturday, April 16th, sandwiched between headliners Thao & the Get Down Stay Down and equally charming opener, Little Scream.

Saintseneca are currently touring in support of their LP Such Things, which dropped last October on ANTI-, which I characterized as, “recall[ing] the kind of ‘90s alt rock that ruled college radio.”  I recently got a chance to once again catch up with Saintseneca’s Zac Little for the first time since the album dropped. When I ask what have been the highlights since the release – which has had the band spending a lot of time on the road – he tells me that it’s just really all about getting the music out to people who seem to be happy to have it in their lives: “I think that probably one of the most exciting things is just the record being out there and people being able to listen to the music and have a relationship with it.  And we went to Europe for the first time last fall, which was great and had always been a goal.”  When we get to what’s next for Saintseneca, after this round of dates (which will come to an official wrap this Saturday, before a small handful of May gigs), Zac tells me that there’s definitely more touring in the near future, but that he’s also started to consider new music: “I’m starting to put my head into the next record.”  He also tells me that they’re really enjoying their time with Thao & the Get Down Stay Down and that they’re excited to show Philly a slightly new version of the band.

“All the shows so far have been a lot of fun.  I relate to the really broad spectrum of sounds that they have.  We’re just gonna do our thing.  We have a pretty cool lineup for this tour that we’ve never toured with.”
