Unfortunately, Nina Nesbitt’s last US headlining tour was cut one night short.  The Scottish singer/songstress was all set to close out the run with a headlining show at our very own World Café Live on April 30th, which ultimately never happened… Well, tonight Nina Nesbitt is returning to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection to headline metal mecca Voltage Lounge (a stark contrast to the highly polished downstairs listening room of World Café Live)… although that’s not to say that Nina’s latest sonic sensibilities have tended in a metallic direction… Last month Nesbitt released The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change, her second full-length and follow-up to her 2014 debut LP, Peroxide.  The album would seem to be a natural evolution in her heavily-R&B-tinged pop aesthetic, although when we last chatted, last April, she tells me that the album is actually quite an evolution, as her first LP not on a major label and feeling like she had the majority of control over the collection of songs.  Read our chat here, check out her recent video for “Colder” below, and come see her bring her brand of pop perfection to Voltage Lounge, the city’s usual home for local headbangers.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
