Although Thanksgiving traditionally gives American youth a bit of a break from the annoyances of everyday life, the prolonged time with the family that so many of them are currently attempting to rebel against can also often call for a break from “hometown” life as well.  Fortunately, for those currently residing in or around the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, this Black Friday emerging pop extraordinaire MAX provided them the opportunity to dance out any and all their annoyances amidst the neon lights of his legit pop star stage set at the Live in Colour Tour at Theatre of Living Arts.  Last month single “Equal In The Darkness” dropped, the latest of MAX’s collaborations (this time with Steve Aoki and Jolin Tsai), which have included Suga of BTS, Hayley Kiyoko, Chromeo, Lil Uzi Vert, and Hoodie Allen.  And his performance at the TLA had the swagger of any of those mega-names.  The setlist included much of 2020’s Colour Vision, in addition to 2016 smash hit “Lights Down Low.”  Although the 1,000-capacity venue was only at about half capacity (a common ailment of Black Friday concerts), the frenzied fandom packing the front of the venue was sufficient to convince that this might be MAX’s last time playing a venue this intimate.
