PHILTHY MAG has gotten to know Yep Roc recording artist Louisa Stancioff pretty well throughout the course of 2024.  We first chatted with the Maine-based indie folk singer/songwriter in April, prior to the release of debut LP When We Were Looking, and we last spoke to her just last month.  Both chats came ahead of shows where Stancioff performed as part of a trio, alongside Molly Parden and Eliza Edens, with an April gig at City Winery and an October stop at MilkBoy.  Well, Louisa Stancioff is already preparing to return to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection this Wednesday, November 6th, amidst a run of dates supporting alt-country outfit Blitzen Trapper, which will have her playing Johnny Brenda’s.  We asked Louisa if she’d be up for making us a playlist, and she was more than happy to oblige, compiling a playlist that she described to me as, “songs that make me feel alive I guess.”  The playlist includes a number of phriends of PHILTHY, such as Adrianne Lenker, Indigo De Souza, Samia, Esther Rose, Babehoven, and Bonny Light Horseman.  Have a listen, and get your tickets to see Louisa Stancioff this Wednesday, November 6th, at Johnny Brenda’s.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
