1. Strand of Oaks “Shut in” (Dead Oceans) – Philadelphia’s own Strand of Oaks makes the most infectious, retro, yet very current and updated, poignant progressive indie rock, a fuzzy glow which excites. Catch them at The Arden Gild Concert Hall in Arden, Delaware on Thursday, September 18. For tickets: http://ardenconcerts.com/?concert=strand-of-oaks

2. Work Drugs “ Double Life”  – Philadelphia’s own indie summery pop band strikes again with a catchy new infectious pop tune that delights to the highest degree.

3. Saint Pepsi “ Fiona Coyne” (Carpark Records)– This one is up for the best summer song of the year.  Saint Pepsi gets back to its roots as it delivers a dance able and fun, delightful hook filled song. It’s much like what we heard from the 2013 full length: “Hit Vibes” :

4. The New Pornographers “War on the East Coast” (Matador Records) – This is such an ode to 80’s and 90’s pop songs. It’s got a great hook and lyrics. It’s vintage from The New Pornographers.

Jon Crary is an avid music fan. Jon's roots are the late 70’s punk and the new wave scene, but his influences are early 70’s glam- Roxy Music and David Bowie. His tastes evolved in the 80’s to include his influences’ copiers – Japan, Duran Duran and New Order. He hosted a radio program where Echo and the Bunnymen and the Smiths were staples. Now, their legacy is well documented. Many people think he has great taste in music, and he actually has a good record collection. He is also a semi-musician having played the bass guitar in a French garage rock band. Now, you will see him enjoying the new music of this and the last decade…thanks to Interpol “Turn on the Bright Lights” album for which he will forever be grateful for revitalizing music for the new generation and old.
