It’s hard to imagine that there could be a louder concert in Philadelphia this week than the show put on by drone metal legends Sunn O))) this Tuesday at Underground Arts, but I suspect electro noise rockers HEALTH are going to give them quite the run for their money at the very same Eraserhood haunt this Saturday, April 27th.  The LA-based band, best known for their combining of aggressive experimental rock with many traditions of electronic, synth-based music, released their fourth full-length, VOL 4 :: SLAVES OF FEAR, this February, courtesy of Loma Vista Recordings.  The album, whose title is a reference to the classic Sabbath album, is their most mature and varied yet.  It would seem to be largely inspired by their plethora of recent collaborations with artists like industrial duo Youth Code, synthwave extraordinaire Perturbator, Purity Ring’s Corin Roddick, and rapper/producer JPEGMAFIA.  HEALTH are touring with support from collaborators, Youth Code, who are not only the most likely heirs to Atari Teenage Riot’s sonic throne, but also one of the best live bands of the decade, so I would highly recommend getting their early… and if you want a live taste of their collaboration, “INNOCENCE,” rumor has it that it might happen sometime toward the end of the night, so make sure to stay late as well.  In the meantime, check out a recent live performance of “The Message,” courtesy of Revolver.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
