Tonight, our very favorite nearly-Center City venue, Boot & Saddle, is hosting a stellar lineup.  Opening the evening is local, post-riot grrrl rocker extraordinaire, Madalean Gauze, and headlining is ineffably quirky Chicago noise poppers, Ohmme.  However, we may be most excited (but not by a lot) for Renata Zeiguer, who will serve as immediate support.  Zeiguer has sung and played with friends of PHILTHY, like Ava Luna, Mr. Twin Sister, and Quilt (in addition to Leapling, Cassandra Jenkins, The Relatives, Christopher Burke, Skaters, and Ex-Reyes), but earlier this year she released her own debut full-length, Old Ghost, courtesy of Northern Spy Records.  The album has already earned a bevvy of critical acclaim from the likes of Paste, Stereogum, and Line of Best Fit.  Zeiguer describes her sound as, “Tropical Apocalypse,” which is… Well, pretty damn on-point.  Old Ghost boasts a woozy and beachy brand of dream pop, with a casual and lackadaisical abandon, a bit like if The Bird and the Bee were punk rockers.  To be honest, I can’t remember the last time this city saw a three-act lineup where every single act was a B+ at the very least, so I would highly recommend coming out.  In the meantime, check out Renata Zeiguer’s recent music video for “Follow Me Down.”

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
