For the second year in a row, Boris are giving us a massive Fall “classic album” tour!! Last year we saw the Japanese experimental metal legends doing Heavy Rocks (2002), alongside Melvins, who were doing 1991’s Bullhead, featuring Boris’ namesake. And this year the Tokyo band are taking it back even further, with the “Amplifier Worship Service” Tour, which has the group performing their first album and 1998 Drone Metal classic, Amplifier Worship, in its entirety.
Last month Third Man Records released the Amplifier Worship 25th Anniversary limited/special edition LP, which features cover art by Aaron Horkey, inspired by his firsthand experience with the infamous Gummy Worms of the 2003 re-release packaging. Boris also dropped a never-before-seen music video for closing track “Kuruimizu,” which you can check out above.
The “Amplifier Worship Service” Tour — which Boris are about 2/3rds-ish of the way into — features two drummers and an extended backline. Additionally, Boris will be joined by LA rockers Starcrawler — who kick out an infectiously sleazy brand of power-pop and put on glamorously raucous rock shows of the highest order – who are handling opening duties.
