Djo, the musical project of Joe Keery from Stranger Things and Fargo, put on an incredible performance this past Saturday at a sold out Franklin Music Hall. His latest album, The Crux, was released just last month. Last year, his song End of Beginning went viral on TikTok, garnered over 1.5 billion streams, and ended up at #6 on the 2024 Spotify global chart.

Djo kicks off his set with opening tracks from his sophomore album, Decide.
Chicago’s psych-rock band, Post Animal, was the opener for the evening. Joe Keery was previously a member of the band up until 2019. He recently returned to collaborate with the band on their upcoming record, IRON, which will be released this summer. The band brought out Joe to play the first single off of the record, Last Goodbye, and also a few other songs towards the end of their set.

Post Animal gets the fun started!
The sold out venue was PACKED from the stage to the front entrance. You could probably hear the screams when Djo came out from miles away. The music is upbeat, funky, and danceable, with personal yet relatable lyrics you want to sing your heart out to, and that’s certainly what the crowd (and myself) did! It was such an exhilarating time capturing the electric energy of the night.
I’ve been a fan of Joe since I first saw him on the screen in Stranger Things back in 2016, and I love his music just as much. I wasn’t sure he’d be able to top his sophomore album, DECIDE, as it’s one of my favorites ever, but the songwriting and vulnerability on The Crux is next level. Having been able to photograph this show means a great deal to me and I’m so grateful.
