This March SoCal psych-soul trio Chicano Batman released Notebook Fantasy, their first full-length since 2020’s Invisible People.  The album was produced by GRAMMY winner John Congleton – known for his work with PHILTHY phriends like Bully, BAILEN, Blood Red Shoes, and even some artists whose names don’t begin with Bs… — and has already earned a bevvy of critical acclaim.  The Guardian gave it a 4/5 and proclaimed, “Chicano Batman are singularly focused on creating music that evokes mood rather than a specific genre… Their fifth album is typically adventurous, channelling reverb-laden electric guitars, euphoric swells of melody and infectious vocal hooks to produce some of the group’s most freewheeling music to date,” while FLOOD Magazine said, “the trio of Chicano Batman music-makers continue to move into the realm of Lite-Brite pixelation and colorful zeal with Notebook Fantasy.”  This April Chicano Batman kicked off the Notebook Fantasy North American Tour, which will have the band returning to our very own Union Transfer tomorrow night, May 12th (featuring an opening set from Lido Pimienta, which should not be missed).  Get your tickets below and check out the Official Live Video for “Losing My Mind.”

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
