So, I’m guessing some of you are unhappy about not being in the bought-tickets-ahead-of-time club for shoegaze legends Slowdive’s show this Wednesday, 11/15, at Union Transfer.  However, fans of the latest generation of musical badassery (whether you made it into the show or not), should be happy that hyper-groovy garage rockers Cherry Glazerr will get to play to another big Philadelphia crowd, when they open the sold out show at the 1,300-capacity venue (Earlier this year they headlined PhilaMOCA and last year they played both the Made in America Festival and an opening set for Best Coast at the Factory.)  The band, founded by currently-19-year-old Clementine Creevy in 2013, is already promoting their third full-length record (although Creevy remains the only original member).  This January Cherry Glazerr released Apocalipstick, their first record to feature keyboardist Sasami Ashworth and drummer Tabor Allen, who are now officially part off the fold.  After moving on from Burger and Suicide Squeeze (*tear*) Cherry Glazerr released their latest effort on our equally-loved Secretly Canadian.  The album was produced by Joe Chiccarelli (known for his work with The Shins, Minus the Bear, and My Morning Jacket) and Carlos de la Garza (who’s worked with Bleached, M83, and Tegan and Sara).  Apparently, the cache of these names had the band upping their professionalism a bit, even leading Creevy to lay off the pot in pre-production.  The process had the band polishing themselves up and honing their musical chops further, but they never lost their sense of fun, humour, or progressive gender politics, as can be found on tracks like, “Told You I’d Be with the Guys,” and “Trash People.”  For those of you lucky enough to get into Slowdive’s show this Wednesday, make sure to catch Cherry Glazerr’s set; they hit the stage at 8:30.  In the meantime, check out their video for “Told You I’d Be with the Guys” below.
