Caroline Rose at Union Transfer (4/11)

Caroline Rose performed their full fifth studio album, The Art of Forgetting, alongside a dazzling light display on 4/11.

Caroline Rose has been a favorite musician of mine for a few years after I first heard their third album, LONER. Their synthy and punchy instrumentals alongside their funny, sardonic, and sometimes heartbreakingly honest lyrics have always inspired me. But their most recent album release, The Art of Forgetting, hit me in a different way. It’s sadder, beautifully haunting, with an emphasis on the heartbreakingly honest lyrics. It was a treat to be able to hear the entire album performed live (I may have teared up a couple times).

I hadn’t seen Caroline perform before, so I was very excited for this show, and even more excited to shoot it. I knew about the light display they created just for this tour but it was so much more breathtaking in person. Their use of color, spotlights, and shadows made for some really cool shots. The entire show was really an experience that I won’t soon forget.
