All of Philthy is well aware that I kind of have a thing for whimsical singer/songwriters.  Well, that is why, Tuesday (September 27) you will find me in Olde City at the Tin Angel for a sure-to-be-enchanting performance by Madi Diaz.  Last week Madi released a 3-song EP, Far From Things That We Know, which successfully pulled me down the rabbit-hole that is her charm.  Although her brand of folk-inspired indie pop isn’t exactly breaking new ground, that doesn’t make it any less lovely.  Madi’s take on the genre, however, is a little more explicitly pensive and existential than that produced by most of her peers; her sound is a bit rainy-day-but-safe-inside-your-favorite-blanket.  Her full-length is due early in 2012, which will hopefully turn her into a full-blown darling of XPN (they’ve already taken notice).  But, until then, see her while you can at the ineffably intimate Tin Angel.

*Also, if you like what you hear of her, keep checking the site, as I will be chatting with her as a preview to the release of her LP
