Every first Friday of each month in Philadelphia is what we “Philadelphians” like to call First Friday.  For those who are not aware of what this is; it is the one night of every month our galleries are swarmed with people trying to get a glance of the gallery exhibitions.  We can find artwork in every medium, whelther it is photography, screen prints, paintings, glass works,  and so on.  Most people head down to Old City and Northern Liberties for the galleries but we can also find art shows and exhibitions in South Philadelphia as well.

I unfortunately was not able to make it down to Old City or Northern Liberties. Due to some circumstances out of my control I did not make it in time. So I got on my bike and headed over to bar 1601 on 10th and Tasker Street with just enough time to view Awesome Dudes Printing art show.   Stephanie Dellavalentina, who works with Awesome Dudes Printing; put this amazing show together.  As soon as I walked in I saw a crowd of people and of course I would; all the boys work is amazing.  I am always blown away by Ralph Stollenwerk, Shaky, Chris Kline, Bill McRight, and Max Gordan’s work.  I was able to snap a photo of the crew minus Ralph Stollenwerk and Shaky. They are always working even when they are not at the shop.

I like that the show had a good turn out even though it was arctic on Friday. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the prints. These boys know what they are doing when it comes to screen printing. You can see a lot of their work around the city as well. They have printed posters for venues such as; the Electric Factory, Barbary, The Filmore, and so on. They have also designed posters for various art shows, bike races, Sailor Jerry, and for numerous bands along with tee shirts.  Awesome Dudes Printing has their hands in everything and people keep coming back for more.

If you get a chance stop down and check out the show.  It will be up for the whole month of January. So get your butts down here, grab a beer, and check out the prints. For those who don’t have time I have a little preview that will make you want to stop down to get your hands on a print.
