This coming Thursday, March 31st, Minneapolis-based Americana outfit The Cactus Blossoms (composed of brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum) will bring the sounds of their third studio LP, One Day, to the Music Hall at World Café Live.  Last month the band released this latest full-length of theirs on their very own Walkie Talkie Records, and just last week they premiered the music video for “Everybody,” their latest single which features Jenny Lewis.  And while we are excited to have The Cactus Blossoms return to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, we’re even more excited about opener Alexa Rose.

Last year Alexa Rose released her sophomore LP, Headwaters, which I called, “arguably the year’s purest (if not best) Americana record.”  I first met her when she was supporting Mipso, who wound up closing out 2021 with two nights in a row at MilkBoy (I won’t say that Alexa was necessarily the highlight of those two nights, but she was certainly on-par with the headliners.)  Alexa Rose first spoke to me last December, when her upcoming dates (including those supporting Mipso and a run supporting Hiss Golden Messenger) took her through March 12th.  Well, apparently her time on the road has been extended and so those in and around the 215 have another chance to see the Asheville-based singer/songwriter, so I would highly recommend getting your tickets (Or, for those who already have them, make sure to get there early.)  In the meantime, read our December chat and check out her recent performance of “Human” for GemsOnVHS.
