Nashville’s “egg punk” band, Snooper, joined Prison Affair for a packed co-headline show at First Unitarian Church last Thursday, March 5th. It was a highly anticipated show for me since the release of Snooper’s sophomore album, Worldwide, which came out on Third Man Records in early October of last year.
Snooper’s music is fast, repetitive, and chaotic, and their live shows bring an abundance of energy that’s felt throughout the audience members up front to the casual fans in the back. I love that they barely paused between songs, going from one loud, propulsive song directly into another. They handmade stage props, like massive faux-speakers, a giant 2000s-era cellphone with a screen displaying the crowd in action, and even costumes of their green bug mascot and a guy with fighting gloves that members of the band wear while dancing in the crowd during their last song. The show was a blast, I ended up very sweaty by the end of it.
