Clairo is officially our favorite YouTube-sensation-turned-legitimate-musical-force of 2019.  The 21-year-old has been recording music since she was 13 and become a star on both SoundCloud and YouTube, but this summer she both released her debut LP, Immunity (courtesy of Fader), and opened a trek of sold out arena dates for Khalid (including a stop at the Wells Fargo Center).  Although the lo-fi production of her original recordings gained her the moniker of a “bedroom pop” artist, her full-length debut demonstrates that she is likely to be one of the next biggest things.  She’s currently on a nearly-sold out headlining tour that will have her at our very own Union Transfer this Thursday, 11/7.  If you don’t already have a ticket, here are five reasons to make sure to get one (Technically, it is already sold out, but I suspect many of your have your ways…)

“Heaven”

“Pretty Girl”

“I Wouldn’t Ask You”

“Flaming Hot Cheetos”

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
