It seems like just yesterday seminal Scottish alt rockers The Jesus & Mary Chain were taking the stage of Union Transfer in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their legendary debut album, Psychocandy (To be fair it was just September of 2015.) Well, the Reid brothers are already back, returning to the stage of UT tonight, May 15th. And they even have new material. Earlier this year the band released their seventh studio LP and first in 19 years, Damage and Joy. Killing Joke’s Youth co-produced the record, which features guest appearances by Isobel Campbell and Sky Ferreira. If you’re not already planning to come out to see the post-punks/proto-shoegazers kick out some new jams tonight (in addition to a bevy of classics), I would highly recommend it. And if you need some help getting in the mood, the staff at PHILTHY MAG (in addition to our dear friend, Andrew Bucci) have composed a playlist of what we consider to be the definitive 10 non–Psychocandy Jesus & Mary Chain tracks.
