Philthy’s own Grandchildren (perhaps known better to some of you as the Danger Danger crew) spent the second half of March touring the sounds of their forthcoming fourth album across the southeast.  The album, which is yet to have a title or release date, see the electro-orchestral post-folk poppers welcoming their newest member, but longtime friend, vocalist Shari Amanda.  Last month Grandchildren released a music video for “Phantom Pains,” (see below) which served as our first taste of their new album.  The video, inspired by classic film noir and shot by Michael Candelori and Bettina Escauriza in and around Danger Danger in West Philly, accompanies an epic, soulful art rock ballad.  Although that’s, thus far, the extent of our introduction to Grandchildren’s upcoming release, this Friday, April 7th, they will be playing a homecoming show and performing some more of their latest work when they open for experimental rockers Xiu Xiu at Boot & Saddle.

During the day Izzy Cihak teaches transgression, subversion, and revolution at Temple University. At night he haunts Philthy's best venues to cover worthwhile acts for Philthy Mag. Morrissey is everything to him and, in their own heads, all of his friends see themselves as Zooey Deschanel.
