One of our local All Hip Hop contacts Jhiermiel Showell had a chance to talk with Sen Dog of the legendary Rap/Rock group Cypress Hill. CH is about to embark on a 5 City tour starting Halloween week this year. The tour will start here in Philly which Sen claimed to be CH’s “second home.”

JS: WHAT KIND OF TOUR IS THIS AND THE REASON FOR IT?
Sen Dog: Its a five city tour that we’re doing. We always do something around oct nov and this is the 20th anniversary of temple of boom album. So we’re making the tour Around this time and Since it halloween themed like the TOB was.

JS: ARE YOU DOING THIS TOUR ALSO CAUSE A NEW ALBUM IS IN THE WORKS?
Yea! A New album is in the works, we just staying active and performing so we can brand ourselves again and get ready to release our new album early next year.

JS: WHAT ARE SOME OF THE POSITIVE CHANGES YOU SEEN HIP HOP GO THROUGH SINCE COMING ON THE SCENE YEARS AGO?
We came in the game about 20yrs ago and hip has grown around the world and has become the number one music now in mainstream. We and other artists that came up with us watched hip hop go to being mentioned in the grammys to New styles of it around the world etc. I think The state of hip hop right now is incredible.

JS: WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT COMING BACK TO PHILLY?
We love philly..it not just an important corporate city in america but its where we got our start. We basically lived in studio four. (which is now batcave) We would see Will Smith in there, jazzy jeff and many others. So philly was always good with us. This like our homecoming in a way.
